Nurses have a professional obligation for advocacy, but remain significantly underrepresented in elected office. Reviewing resources available for nurse candidates, presenters will offer case studies of a few nurse legislators and focus on how employment impacted their campaigns and elected office. Nurse candidates navigate complex variables of barriers, benefits, and support. The session will focus on actions nurse leaders can take to encourage political advocacy.
