Civilian Readiness for Veteran-Centered Care: A Systems Survey
A practical data-driven leadership playbook to identify and care for veterans across civilian settings. We’ll show how to embed intake questions (e.g., “Have you ever served in the military?”), EHR prompts, staff micro-learning, and structured referral partnerships, using Systems, Design, Equity-Centered, and Data-Informed thinking, to improve access, coordination, and outcomes for veterans and their families.
Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the think - to - design leadership framework to support a veteran inclusive system.
  2. Describe why the question "Have you ever served in the military?" improves care coordination.

Meaningful Recognition: How important is it?
This session will review the results and implications of a large national study on meaningful recognition (MR) and relational leadership for both clinical nurses and nurse managers/directors. The results underscore the need for comprehensive MR strategic plans at every level. Discussion will be facilitated on implications including strategies for fostering "feeling valued," inclusivity of MR outside of the nursing team, impact of MR changing the narrative and how it ties into value of nursing.
Learning Outcomes
  1. To understand the relationship between meaningful recognition and relational leadership.
  2. To discuss the impact of meaningful recognition and applicable leadership strategies.

Redefining 'New': When Does a Nurse Stop Being New
Entry-level nurses often exhibit limiting characteristics, such as dependent practice, a lack of confidence, ineffective clinical judgment, and difficulty managing complex care situations. The study highlights the variables that impact the initial practice period of entry-level nurses and explores the characteristics of newly licensed nurse practice, including their duration, thereby describing the length of the entry-level licensure period.
Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe entry-level nurse characteristics and their prevalence.
  2. Discuss entry-level nurse practice patterns during the initial licensure period.
