  • Nurse Manager Span-of-Control, Support and Patient Outcomes
    • In this presentation, we will delve into the relationship of nurse manager SOC and support factors on patient outcomes, using NDNQI fall rates and pressure injury prevalence data. We will identify key nurse manager indicators that correlate with patient safety metrics, providing actionable insights for healthcare organizations to optimize nurse manager roles and enhance overall patient care and safety. Data collection burden will be examined.
    • Presented by: Nora Warshawsky, Nurse Scientist, Press Ganey Associates, LLC; Angela Pascale, Research Analyst, Press Ganey Associates, LLC

  • Nursing Leadership and System Science Model: A Model for Nursing Leadership
    • This session will introduce a new proposed conceptual model, the Nursing Leadership Science Model. Developed by a team of national nursing leaders, the model will be presented with an invitation for the audience to engage in feedback and a lively and thoughtful discussion. The session will explore implications and utility for practice innovations, research, education, and policy.
    • Presented by: Esther Chipps, Clinical Nurse Scientist Professor of Nursing, Ohio State University; Maria Lindell Joseph, Clinical Professor of Nursing, University of Iowa College of Nursing

  • Work Environment: Key comparisons between travel nurses and staff nurses
    • This session will review the aims, results, and implications of a large national study on the perceptions of travel nurses and regular staff nurses of their work/ethical environment. The results could surprise participants, and relate to organizational/unit culture, leadership styles, and local team dynamics. Discussion will focus on inclusivity of travel nurses as part of the dynamic nursing workforce, the leadership practices that can drive such change, and the benefits to team and patients.
    • Presented by: Rosanne Raso, Editor-in-Chief, Nursing Management; Joyce Fitzpatrick, Director, Marian K. Shaughnessy Nurse Leadership Academy, Case Western Reserve University; Stuart Downs, Senior Vice President & System Chief Nurse Executive, Northeast Georgia Health System; Nicolette Fiore-Lopez, Chief Nursing Officer, St. Charles Hospital
